DAVAO LIGHT & POWER COMPANY POWER RATE HIKES A comprehensive paper DAVAO LIGHT ( DLPC ) customers are up in arms over the recent spike in power costs which as of April 2017 billing has gone over Php 10.00 per kwh for residential customers, while commercial and industrial have to contend with Power Rates hovering between Php 8.50 to 9.50 per kwh. While heavy industrial users with 69 KV connection have an average Php 7.50 from only Php 6.50 last January 2017 Background : From its inception, up to 1979 when the AGUS hydro plants generation capacity reached DLPC, the supply was from the Bajada Power Plant, a 53 MW Diesel Fired power plant. Thence the power rates were relatively cheaper than MERALCO, with an average variance of Php 2.50 per kwh in favor of DLPC customers.
